Narrative Stories Part 2

My name is Buumba Ngulube, I am native woman of Lubombo township from Kamulebamba section. I have been living here my whole life and I have never seen any organisation that has come to work here in Lubombo district, which has actively changed the lives of women and young girls like Copper Rose Zambia. This organisation with remarkable young women and men has given hope to the young girls and women in my community that they can achieve anything. They have been able to speak about taboo topics like menstruation and menstrual hygiene practices, a topic only spoken about in whispers, but affects most of the population living in this community. Speaking as a beneficiary of this project as a tailor, I have acquired the skill of making reusable sanitary pads for resale, which are better than the small pieces of worn out pieces of cloth used during menstruation by the women and girls living in this area. With this business, I have become a small scale entrepreneur making small profits to feed my family. In addition, I have learnt a lot about menstrual health as well as sexual reproductive health and rights that I am able to explain and educate others in my community.
