Copper Rose Zambia in partnership with CHISOMO and Save a Dream yesterday visited street kids at CHISOMO drop in center in Northmead Lusaka. As Copper Rose, we care about menstrual hygiene management for every type of girl in society, this time we decided to distribute sanitary pads to girls and hygiene kits for boys on the street.
The girls disclosed to us what they use to manage their periods while on the street, with a few older girls managing to buy pads, those who are incapable of buying use a chitenge which is cut in small pieces. We also took advantage of the time to also talk to girls and boys about sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The team had sessions with the boys and girls who were so eager to learn and had so many questions on SRHR. Copper Rose is happy to have passed down information on SRHR in order for the girls and boys to make informed sexual decisions on the street.
