Women’s day is a very important day to Copper Rose because we celebrate women all over the world. It is incomplete for us to celebrate women and not talk about menstruation. We believe that women and menstruation are inseparable that is why we are unashamed to talk about it.
The Copper Rose Zambia team together with Medical Women Association of Zambia had a Career talk and sanitary pads distribution program at Mwembeshi High School in Lusaka with over 300 girls.
The Medical Women Association of Zambia inspired the girls by sharing their different and unique stories of how they all became doctors; the women reminded the girls that it’s possible to be anything they want to be.
Copper Rose had sessions with the pupils from Mwembeshi high school and neighbouring schools on ‘My first’, which is a session where girls share their first period experience. The girls are taught how to keep clean during the period and how to dispose off their used pads. The girls are also shown how to wear a pad in case somebody doesn’t know then finally distributed reusable and disposable pads to girls in Grade 7 to Grade 12.
